Dr. Hermiz is a native of Endicott, New York. He earned the Bachelor of Theology degree from Circleville Bible College (Ohio), now Ohio Christian University, in 1960 and pursued further work in administration at Ohio State University and in theology at Vennard College (Iowa). George Fox Evangelical Seminary (Oregon) honored him with the Doctor of Divinity degree in 1975.

Dr. Hermiz taught church administration at Ohio Christian University and was given the Alumnus of the Year Award at that institution in 1969. He also served in two pastorates for a total of twelve years, the most recent being in Lancaster, Ohio.

From 1972 to 1979, he was executive director of the Christian Holiness Partnership and served as its president from 1990 to 1992.

Dr. Hermiz served as president of World Gospel Mission from 1979 through 2001.

He has also served on several boards, including those of World Gospel Mission, Asbury College, and the Christian Holiness Partnership.

In recent years, Dr. Hermiz has been in great demand as a speaker for camp meetings, Bible and missions conferences, and local church crusades. His preaching ministry has taken him to every section of the nation and into the West Indies, Asia, the Orient, Africa, South America, Central America, and Europe.

He was the featured speaker on the nationwide telecast "Aflame" for two years, and in 1997, the Christian Holiness Partnership gave him the "Holiness Exponent of the Year" award.

Tom is also the author of the book, "Holiness, the Joy, the Journey, the Difference" and co-authored "The Pastor's Funeral Planner" with Stan Toler. 

Dr. Hermiz completed 12 years as the General Superintendent of the Churches of Christ in Christian Union based in Circleville, Ohio on July 20, 2018. He currently serves as the President of the Avon Park Camp Meeting.

Dr. Hermiz is an approved evangelist with the Francis Asbury Society and an official Ambassador for World Gospel Mission.

Tom and his wife, Ella Mae, have three grown children (one daughter is deceased) and seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
